Formula Student
Supporting the Engineers of Tomorrow
RS is always keen to encourage and support students who are involved with engineering projects. As a result, we have worked with six University teams, who are participating in the Formula Student Programme, organised by The Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
About the project
This high performance programme usually forms part of a degree-level project. The participants have to produce a single-seater racing car incorporating all the skills involved for design, promotion, manufacture and communications. The whole programme is used to showcase potential engineers for future careers in industry, culminating in an event in July, which brings together the Universities from across the world, to have their cars assessed and put through their paces.
RS has supported the chosen Universities with the donation of diverse products to help with the build – ranging from pushbuttons, LEDs, toggle switches, ball bearings and inductive sensors, to name a few.
